I am looking for ways to incorporate more pulses into my diet. Pulses are dried peas, edible beans, lentils and chickpeas. Since I am not a fan of these at all, I have to be creative in how I eat them. So I thought, why not make it into a dip since I enjoy hummus so much? This isn’t an overly sweet dip, but I enjoy the taste of it.
Start off with your basic ingredients. Just like regular hummus, you can’t miss adding the lemon juice to it. It works so well with the chickpeas.
Blend everything up and enjoy with fruit! I added pineapple to it to make it more of a fruity taste but you can easily omit this.
- 1 - 15 ounce Can Chickpeas
- 2 Tblsp Cocoa Powder
- 1/4 - 1/3 Cup Maple Syrup
- 1/2 Cup Pineapple optional
- 1 tsp Vanilla
- 1 1/2 Tblsp Lemon Juice
- 1/8 tsp Nutmeg
- 1/2 tsp Cinnamon
- 1/3 - 1/2 Cup Coconut Milk
Add everything in to the food processor except the coconut milk and maple syrup; pulse.
Add the coconut milk slowly so it doesn't make it too runny.
Slowly add the maple syrup in until it is the desired sweetness.
Serve with fruit.
