I love all things spicy, especially anything with buffalo sauce! There is just something about the spice and vinegar that makes your mouth just water. I had a can of young jackfruit in my pantry, so I decided to give this a try and I am so glad that I did.
Start by shredding the jackfruit. I did mine in smaller pieces so that it was easier to eat as a dip. Feel free to shred it to whatever size you prefer.
Add the onion and the buffalo sauce to the jackfruit. Once it is all stirred, let it marinate for at LEAST 1 hour.
Saute the jackfruit mixture along with the butter in a frying pan over medium heat until the onions are tender. It smells and looks like buffalo chicken.
Combine the rest of the ingredients and place in a baking dish. I used Nuts for Cheese Super Blue in it. It has a nice sharp taste and pairs perfectly with this. To see their selection of delicious vegan cheeses, click HERE. Bake for 15 minutes or until it becomes all bubbly.
Buffalo Jackfruit Dip
A great appetizer
- 1 400 ml Can Young Jackfruit in Brine
- 1/2 Onion (chopped)
- 2/3 Cup Buffalo Sauce
- 1/4 Cup Vegan Butter
- 60 g Nuts For Cheese Super Blue
- 1/2 Cup Vegan Ranch Dressing
Preheat the oven to 350F/ 176C.
Drain and rinse the jackfruit. Shred it and put it in a bowl. Add the onion and the buffalo sauce and let it marinate at least 1 hour.
In a frying pan, saute the mixture & the butter for around 10 minutes, or until the onions are cooked through. Remove from heat.
Add the rest of the ingredients and stir until well combined. Pour it into an oven-proof dish and bake for 15 minutes or until it bubbles.
