Who doesn’t love gravy? I honestly don’t know of anyone who doesn’t! It’s perfect on ANY kind of potato preparations!
Start by making a roux, yes you can make vegan roux! Roux is flour and fat cooked together and used to thicken sauces. Roux is typically made from the same amount of flour and fat.
Once the roux is completely combined, slowly add the vegetable broth. Keep whisking to avoid lumps in your gravy!
Add the rest of the ingredients and keep whisking until it is thickened. You can adjust the amount of white pepper if you don’t like a peppery taste.
You can serve this with anything! I chose to make mine in a Poutine. Poutine is a Canadian dish consisting of French fries, cheese curds and topped with gravy. It is so delicious! I made mine with Nuts for Cheese cashew cheese and it paired perfectly! Layer the baked fries and then put desired amount of gravy on it. Top with cheese and enjoy immediately.
