Fibromyalgia Information & Blueberry Chia Pudding


I know that this is very different from what I usually post, but I feel that it is very important to be able to inform people about this invisible illness. Today, May 12th, is Fibromyalgia Awareness Day! I have suffered from this invisible illness for years, and more recently it has completely changed my life. Symptoms of Fibromyalgia are often brushed off, or said to be joint inflammation. It is seen as a rheumatic condition, one that causes soft tissue pain or myofascial pain. So in ordinary terms: it makes you feel like you have the flu constantly, are exhausted all the time, sensitive skin, forget what you’re saying and hurt all the time, etc etc. One of the symbols for Fibromyalgia is a purple butterfly, but why? It is because the impact of Fibromyalgia can be felt in severe ways, no matter how small or light. Just as the lightest touch of a butterfly could cause massive repercussions for it, the same is for a person suffering from Fibromyalgia.

The thing to remember about Fibromyalgia is that everyone has different symptoms and different degrees of it. So just because something works for one person with Fibromyalgia, doesn’t mean it will work for the next person. Telling someone who has Fibromyalgia, or any kind of invisible illness, that they don’t look sick, or that they should be grateful that it is not something “worse” is not helpful. Just be understanding and kind to them, as I am sure you would be to anyone.

Both men and women have Fibromyalgia, but there are more cases in women. You might be wondering why I attached a blueberry pudding recipe to this post. Well, first off I made it because it’s delicious, but the second reason is because purple is the color associated with Fibromyalgia Awareness. Plus it’s pretty! I am not going to go into detail here on how to make this delicious pudding, you’ll just have to see it in the recipe below!

Blueberry Chia Pudding

  • 1 Cup Plant Based Milk
  • 2 Cups Blueberries
  • 1 tsp Vanilla
  • 1/2 Cup Chia Seeds
  • 1.5 Cups Yoso Unsweetened Coconut Yogurt (divided)


  1. Puree the blueberries until smooth.

  2. Combine half the blueberry puree, plant based milk and vanilla together. Add the chia seeds & refrigerate for 1 hour.

  3. Take half of the yogurt and 3/4 of the blueberry puree and mix it together for the middle layer.

  4. Use the remaining yogurt and puree to make the top layer. Layer the chia pudding and the yogurts on top of each other. Serve with fresh blueberries.
